Summer School 2025
Scope
The GS-EES Summer School features lectures by international experts on different topics related to battery research. Another focus is on scientific exchange between the participants via poster sessions and oral presentations. There are special sessions on “Trouble and Failed Attempts” to promote learning from those experiences and to share ideas on how to solve such problems. Social activities to enhance networking are another integral part of the program.
Target Group
The GS-EES Summer School is open to all interested PhD, master students and post-docs, no matter at which institution they are enrolled.

Workshops
You can choose one of two Professional Skills Workshops
How to Write a Scientific Paper
The aim of scientific writing is to disseminate research to an expert audience. Clear, succinct, and persuasive writing is of critical importance to insure that the message of your paper is efficiently conveyed to the reviewers, and, ultimately, to the audience who will cite and build upon your work. In this workshop, we will engage with guidelines from established sources to design and structure a skeleton for a paper written by a battery scientist. We will discuss each structural aspects of a paper, and engage with short writing exercises for each section. Our focus will be on achieving clarity and structure in our writing, such that the reader grasps quickly our points. The aim of the workshop is to leave you empowered and confident in writing your next paper or conference abstract.
From Research to Impact
You invest years into your research—now, imagine it making a difference beyond academia. Could your findings influence policy, drive innovation, or even form the basis of a start-up?
This interactive workshop will show you how to translate your research into real-world impact. Through hands-on exercises and expert insights, you'll explore pathways to maximize the reach and relevance of your work—whether through knowledge transfer, entrepreneurship, or policy engagement.
Participants Contributions
For an intensive scientific exchange, all participants are invited to give a talk and present a poster.
Networking and Socializing
A short hike and a barbecue will be part of the program to facilitate networking and socializing.

What participants of the Summer School say:
"The Summer School ist the perfect time to get to know and network with like-minded, highly moticated PhD students during a good program of interesting lectures and workshops as well as stimulating evenings."
"The opportunity to meet and discuss with researchers with different expertise or research area and to form meaningful personal connections which lead to collaborations are the main highlight of the Summer School. Along with this comes the chance to be away form usual lab routine and refresh ourselves at different locations like the beautiful Monabchtal."
