Core Program

Core Program of the GS-EES

The Core Program is mandatory for all members of the Graduate School Electrochemical Energy Storage (GS-EES).

It is designed to cover the three essential aspects of the GS-EES, namely a common fundamental understanding in the interdisciplinary field of electrochemical energy storage, scientific exchange and networking and includes the following:

 

Block Course

The Block Course ”Materials, Functioning and Technology of Batteries” covers the full spectrum of electrochemical energy storage and conversion from theory to engineering and from fundamentals to applications. The lectures are taught by experts of POLiS and CELEST.

The Block Course is offered annually in two parts of one week each, usually taking place in springtime. Ideally, it should be attended during the first year of the doctorate in order to get a broad general understanding of the most important and relevant concepts. It is also an ideal opportunity to get to know other GS-EES members who joined within the last year.

External participants are welcome to join the Block Course. Further information and the list of lectures can be found here.

 

Summer School

The GS-EES Summer School focuses on scientific exchange, discussions and elements of professional skills training. Selected lectures on topics that are not covered in the Block Course are taught by national and international experts. A major part of the Summer School are talks by the participants presenting their research. The Summer School has to be attended at least twice. Attending it more often is welcome.

Research Abroad

A three months research stay at a foreign laboratory - or in industry - to support international networking and cultural experience. Further information on the Research Abroad including experience reports can be found here
